Our brain acquires a lot of information nonstop – some of them useful and some of them completely useless. That’s how our ‘memory card’ becomes full and overloaded. Sometimes we acquire completely useless facts just for fun’s sake! Check out these odd little tidbits and put your ‘memory card’ on hold. Have fun.

1.  The correct female equivalent for “dude” is actually “dudine” and not “dudette.”

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the correct female equivalent for “dude” is actually “dudine” and not “dudette.” Honestly, I haven’t heard anyone use the word “dudette” since the ’90s, but you know, it’s good to make sure it stays unused. As this information is dropped by an official dictionary, we should respect it and stop using the word “dudette.”

2. Linkin Park and Blink-182 will briefly form a super duo called “Blinkin Park.”

The two super bands appeared in a video for ‘Funny Or Die’ in order to promote an upcoming tour that features both. The tour is named “One More Light”. Apparently Linkin Park still take themselves seriously, somehow.
I was wondering, if “Blinkin Park” can be a thing, then I’m stoked for Green Day to team up with Sum 41 and create “Sumday.”

3. It costs as much as the actual rebuilding and lasts an hour longer than the attack.

Of course I am talking about Michael Bay’s snore-fest period piece “Pearl Harbor” that cost $140 million to produce. Even with that sum of money, Bay quit working on it several times because he felt constricted by the budget. He actually ended up taking a $4 million pay cut.
Thank God he did, at least the film be cut to a comfortable runtime for viewers.

4. “Anatidaephobia” is the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you…???

Ok, ok, it’s not actually a real word but basically a parody on of so many possible phobias out there. Although it was coined by the cartoonist Gary Larson (ask your dad), this weird word became viral around the internet a while ago, causing all sorts of debates about its logistics.
At least, it’s a great conversation starter if you’re lost for words at a party.

5. A couple in Sweden were fined for naming their child “Brfxxccxxmnpcccclll mmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116.”

Be careful with the choice of names for your kids. A couple in Sweden named their kid “Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116” and according to the couple, the name is pronounced “Albin.” Yeah, right, that would’ve been my first guess.
Since they had never registered this unapproved name, the fine remained even after the couple offered to name their child “A” instead.
Hmm, probably the moral of the story is to not let your cat name your kid by walking on your keyboard.

6. You probably won’t see white dog poop anymore.

Remember coming across those piles of ivory feces every now and then? Well, not too long ago, dogs’ food was made with a lot of meat and bones in it. These days, dogs rarely consume as much calcium as they did, which gave their poop that dusty, white color.
So if you want a nostalgia trip, you’ll have to throw a dog a bone, literally!

7. Scientists are still searching for the “loneliest whale” in the world who has been singing to himself for over 20 years.

Back in the 1980s, some researchers searching for a whale began studying a unique whale by tracking its route across the North Pacific Ocean whose song was much higher pitched than any other. Because of that, the lady whales didn’t even recognize it. The researchers have been listening to the animal’s abnormally high song for over 20 years but have never seen what it looks like.

8. This is a pecan pie vending machine that actually exists!

This glorious machine is stocked daily and available 24/7 over in Cedar Creek, Texas. It’s owned by Berdoll Pecan Farm who decided to make this available because their pies were so popular. It’s all clear, let’s move to Texas!

9. “Goober” means peanut!

Just to kae it clear, not all strange words are Gary Larson’s fault. This word is real but I would have never thought it means “peanut”. I had always thought it was a light-hearted way of calling someone ‘weird’ or ‘dumb.’ Anyway, one of my favorite snacks is goober butter. Yummy!

10. Marilyn Monroe had higher IQ than Einstein.

Marilyn Monroe had IQ of 163 while Albert Einstein’s IQ was 160. Now, this is all relative (as physicist would put it) but we surely know that Monroe didn’t do nearly as much as Einstein, and all those IQ tests are kind of shaky for various reasons.
Still, it’s good to know she wasn’t the stereotypical “blonde” that a lot of people made her out to be.

11. Pineapples don’t grow on trees.

I had always thought they grow on some kind of palm tree type or something similar but I surely hadn’t imagined this. Well, whatever the case, just keep them off my pizza and we’ll be just fine.

12. Hippo milk is pink!

Throw out all protein powders and get yourself a hippo …. or at least a carton of hippo milk! Apparently, this pink milk has around 500 calories in a single cup. Not something I have ever sat and thought about, but anyway, it’s good to know!

13. More people are killed by donkeys annually than are killed in plane crashes or shark attacks. So watch your ass.

Urban myth or rural legend? When there is a fatal airplane crash it is spectacular and always makes the news. When an entire plane load of people crashes and they all die, the numbers add up pretty quickly. However, statistics say that on average, “only” 200 people die annually in plane crashes while 40,000 in car accidents. As far as shark attacks are concerned, there is an average of 100 reported attacks annually out of which 5 -10 are fatal. Now, what about killer donkeys? The trouble is that there are no statistics about this so we can’t compare. The myth originates from 1987, when a London newspaper wrote about how people were unreasonably afraid of flying and the reporter might have just invented this so-called statistic as a joke to reassure people that flying was safe.

14. Yummy Pomato is a combination of potato and tomato!

It grows the potatoes on the bottom and the tomatoes on the top, of course. So, if you’ve ever wanted to grow French fries with ketchup ready to go, that’s probably as close as you’ll get!

15. On the set of The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence was nicknamed, “Katpiss Neverclean.”

I mean, what can I say? Obviously, it was all fun and games on that set.

16. Don’t eat a polar bear’s liver. It will poison you.

Although they look delicious, humans can’t handle that amount of vitamin A. Polar bears are super good at storing vitamins throughout their body, so if you ate the liver, with or without fava beans and a nice Chianti, you would definitely succumb to a poisoning known as Hypervitaminosis A.

17. If you are hardworking person just like an ant, don’t sleep! At least ants don’t.’

Well, they do rest and are almost useless in really cold temperatures, but basically, their nervous system isn’t complex enough to allow for what we would call sleep. Poor little buggers have no dreams, just work1 Join the club!

18. On average, cellphones carry 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats

A lot of little, everyday handheld items go unwashed in our cleaning routines, cellphones for example, so it’s not surprising that they can build up a lot of grossness.
Plus, if you’re not tweeting from the toilet, when are you gonna have time to tweet, right?

19. If you nap after learning something new, you’ll retain the information better.

Three New York-based researchers conveyed a study with students to find out whether napping would help in this way. They found that it totally does! Hmm, I remember napping all the time in college — if only I had learned something beforehand…

20. The inventor of the Gameboy was originally the janitor at Nintendo!

His name was Gunpei Yokoi and he had a handful of jobs at one of Nintendo’s card factories, including janitor. Thing was, he was very inventive and was always playing around with machinery. Yokoi sumbited the idea and design of the Gameboy in the ’80s and it was an instant hit!

21. Why Facebook is blue?

Mark Zuckerberg is colorblind — and blue is the easiest color for him to notice and discern different shades of, so he chose it for the main look of his website. Apparently, it was a good call too, since a lot of marketing experts agree that blue is seen as a strong, trustworthy color. Again, this gives more credence to the phrase, “it’s not easy being green.”
